They say health is wealth. Is that even true with a GOOD healthcare system?

I've been working on Player Stats, specifically health and stamina. Who'da thunk it, but you have to code basically the same thing a bunch of times for increasing the maximum as well as decreasing it when the correct trigger comes. Is this one of those times where I should want them to refilled exclusively by items, because a "refill over time" mechanic would take 50 different nodes?
